TLF Teaches Intro to Digital Privacy Workshop – Feb 16th

Are you in Chicago? Interested in issues of Digital Privacy? Come join TLF editors Keidra Chaney and Raizel Liebler and FreeGeek Chicago on February 16th. We’re teaching a workshop on Digital Privacy – a topic we’ve covered a lot here on the blog and at conferences. Here’s more:

Several years ago, companies were skittish about employee use of blogs and other social media tools. More recently, brands are increasingly creating “official” company social media profiles, as well as establishing social media policies to encourage employees to unofficially represent a company via social media during the work-day and off-hours, with the understanding that transparency and personal contact are widely seen as important to success in social media communication and marketing.

We’ll discuss issues involving intellectual property, privacy, and the bounds of employment within personal and professional social media use. By the end of the workshop participants will know how to audit their online reputation and will be able to develop guidelines and frameworks to help individuals draw lines between their professional work and their online privacy to shield personal information from the public on social media.

This event is free and open to the public, though a $5.00 donation is suggested to support FreeGeek’s Education Programming.

Do join us! Trust us, we are educational, and damned entertaining. It’ll be a good time.
